Our unconventional approach to missionary training has worked effectively for over 60 years. Content in a classroom is important, but good content alone does not prepare effective missionaries. The top three characteristics that set effective missionaries apart from the rest of the pack are vibrant spirituality, godly character and inter-cultural social skills.
BCOM makes these outcomes a priority in order to prepare you for effective missionary service. While developing these characteristics, you will be immersed in excellent Biblical and theological studies. Rather than examining case studies in a sterilized classroom, you will learn cross - cultural field realities in an overseas setting. Your four years at Bethany will be spent learning in the context of a community of people who care about them, both on campus, and on the mission field.
We also feel that it is absolutely necessary that students have a vibrant prayer life. You won’t just hear about developing your prayer life, you will actually spend a lot of time praying. It is our conviction that successful missionaries are those who touch God in the place of prayer and who devote themselves to the study His Word.

Bethany College of Missions is a place that goes far beyond the expectations of any college missions program. The impact made by its students is a testament to the true missions orientation of this campus. They not only spend a year in the classroom learning, but follow that year up with 16 months of ministry on the missions field and then 4 months of debriefing. This school is serious when it comes to their passion for the nations and the real-life urgency of the millions who have never heard the gospel.
