Transferring Credits
Applicants who wish to transfer credits from other colleges into Bethany College Of Missions need to take the following steps:
- Request that an “official” transcript be sent by mail, directly from your college(s); unofficial transcripts or copies and transcripts sent by fax or email are not acceptable for transferring credits.
- Official transcripts submitted for the purpose of transferring credits must be received in the Admissions Office prior to the first day of class of your first semester of enrollment at Bethany College Of Missions.
- There is no need to make a special request for transferring credits. All official college transcripts are reviewed and posted in your online database profile as pending credit transfers during the application process to Bethany College Of Missions. Our registrar reviews them prior to your enrollment and the accepted transfer credits are visible in our online database once they have been approved.
- If the question of whether your credits will transfer is the deciding factor in whether you will come to Bethany and you want to know of your approved courses earlier in the year, contact the BCOM Admissions Office directly to make that request.
Official transcripts should be sent to:
Bethany College of Missions
6820 Auto Club Rd, Suite C
Bloomington, MN 55438
Transfer Credit Policies
- If a student has earned a grade of C or higher in a Bible, missions, theology, personal spiritual development or certain social studies courses like cultural anthropology etc, they may eligible for transfer.
- General education courses, such as math, science and other classes that do not have a good equivalent within our curriculum will probably not transfer, but will be reviewed regardless.
- College English Composition does not automatically transfer in, but if you earned a grade of B or higher you will be given the opportunity to test out of our English Composition class during orientation.
- You will not normally be able to transfer directly in as a sophomore because of the non-academic requirements of our program, for which equivalents from other schools are rare; however, we consider these requests on a case-by-case basis.
- You may always elect not to take advantage of a transfer credit opportunity if you wish to take the class equivalent at BCOM. You will not pay additional tuition because all students pay the same full-time tuition amount regardless of the number of hours you are taking. If you choose to enroll in a course rather than receive the transfer credit, please contact the Registrar’s Office prior to the start of the class.
- Likewise, you may also choose to audit a course for which you are receiving transfer credit, if desired. This means you may sit in on all the lectures but don’t have to do any of the homework, tests, etc. Please contact the Registrar’s Office to enroll for audit.
