Are you ready to burn out for God? Are you ready to abandon your own ambitions and take up Christ’s? Passion for proclaiming Jesus among those who have never heard is what draws people to consider missions training. At BCOM we want you to be completely prepared to fulfill the vision the Lord has given you. This takes more than classroom training. It takes a lifestyle that is abandoned to Christ.
As a BCOM student, you will choose to live an extreme lifestyle that goes against what the world calls “normal.” We unapologetically take a stand against a culture that has thrown images and expectations at us all of our lives, and we refuse to be shaped by those images. Putting actions to their words, all BCOM students commit to living by certain standards that are outlined below.
Because we desire purity above entertainment, and recognize the pull of media to draw us from Christ and to the world, we do not watch movies that are rated PG-13 for sexual content or R.
Because we have been engrained in the MTV culture, we recognize the need to take a big step back from that. We fast from media for the first 4 months of the year in order to take our eyes off of media, and fix them on Christ.
Because we desire to have healthy friendships with the opposite gender, and we recognize our need to re-shape or mold our thinking to a Biblical view of relationships, we abstain from new romantic relationships for the first 6 months on campus, and commit to fixing our eyes on the Lord and His desires for future relationships.
Because our bodies are “temple[s] of the Holy Spirit” and we desire to honor God with our bodies, we abstain from all forms of alcohol, tobacco, and non-prescription narcotics.
Because we desire to draw the attention of those around us to Christ and not to our bodies, we comply with a modest dress code.
