Costs

Global Interns are students first. In order to fund the costs of operating their portion of the program and studying abroad in a specific country, there is a program fee of $2000.

In addition to this program fee, all Global Interns accepted into the program are sent out as short-term missionaries under Bethany International Missions. Their cost of living and ministry expenses during the period of internship are considered missionary support. For this reason students will raise this support from friends, churches, and families for the duration of their internship. Donors give to Bethany International Ministries to support the mission’s work which the interns carry out as they study abroad.

Bethany International Ministries sets a target support goal for each internship site based on local cost of living and expected ministry expenses. In 2008, the average target goal is $6000 setup fee (which includes medical insurance, housing setup, initial furnishings, 3 months of language school and airfare to and from the location) and an average monthly support level of $850 (which includes monthly room and board, local transportation, ministry outreach expenses, local government expenses such as visas, and miscellaneous costs). An exact budget and breakdown of the budget will be provided for the intern approximately 9 months before their expected date of departure. Interns must raise 25% of this support by 6 months before departure, 75 % by 2 months before departure, and be at 100 % prior to departure.
