Are you thinking of coming to Bethany College of Missions after you’ve graduated from the Honor Academy? If so, we’ve put together some information just for you that will be helpful as you pray about the next step in your life.

We would encourage you to consider applying to the Honor Academy to become a Mission Track GI. Here's what that would look like:

Description of the Graduate Intern Mission Track

This Graduate Internship option takes place on the campus of Bethany College of Missions and the Honor Academy North, in Bloomington, Minnesota.

Honor Academy Graduate Interns on the Mission Track spend a minimum of one year at Bethany College of Missions (BCOM) as a full-time student, earning a Certificate in Bible and Missions.

That certificate can then be applied toward our B.A. Degree in Cross-cultural Studies that will take you overseas for a 16 month stint as an associate missionary. The entire B.A. Degree will only take 3 years to complete!

Here’s what it looks like to be a GI at Bethany:

• You will take approximately 45 college credits (about 15 per term) in Bible, theology, personal spiritual development, and missions coursework taught by experienced pastors, professors, and missionaries.

• You will participate in 20 hours per week of Ministry Placement with the Honor Academy North or in Practical Training with a department of BCOM.

• You will be in a resident cell group led by a BCOM mentor.

• You will attend chapel sessions and services with BCOM students and staff and sessions with the Honor Academy North.

• You will minister with a local church for approximately 3 hours per week

• You will devote time each week to personal and corporate prayer and worship with Bethany students and staff and time with the Honor Academy North.

Mission Track Graduate Interns take part in most Life Transforming Experiences throughout the year and have additional special learning opportunities through the Honor Academy.

Each HAGI will continue to submit monthly funds to Teen Mania throughout this first year program. The price per month is determined by Teen Mania Ministries. In 2006-2007 the cost was $600 per month.

Upon earning the Certificate, your commitment with the Honor Academy as a Graduate Intern is completed. At this point you are encouraged to continue in the college program by launching into a 16-month overseas Global Internship at one of BCOM’s field learning locations. While gaining valuable hands-on experience as an associate missionary, you will also be earning credits toward your college degree while on the field. After one final term of de-briefing on the BCOM campus you will graduate with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Cross-cultural Studies and 16 months of overseas missionary experience!

What's The Difference

Maybe you're wondering, "What's the difference between coming as a GI and just applying to BCOM on my own?" Here's a comparison chart we have laid out for you to review.

Steps To Being On The Mission Track

If you feel like God is leading you down the GI path, here are the steps to take:

First, let the Honor Academy know that you're considering the Mission Track GI program at BCOM and follow their instructions for being approved as a GI.

Next, you’ll need to fill out the following forms from BCOM (don’t worry – they’re short!).
* an application form to BCOM
* a transcript request form, which you will send to your former colleges and/or high school

It is not necessary to submit the application form and transcripts at the same time. However, we will not review your application until everything is received.

Once you're approved by the Honor Academy and your application materials are in to BCOM, you will be approved to enroll!

Important!

If you’ve already been accepted as an Honor Academy Graduate Intern (HAGI), you must still be accepted as a student at Bethany before you can start your the program. You’ll need to complete the application for BCOM and send in your transcript in order to be officially be accepted as a GI/student.

Please note: All application deadlines apply to GIs in process, just like they do for anyone else applying to BCOM. Be sure to take note of the application deadlines when sending in your application materials.

If you are feeling like the Lord is leading you to apply as a regular BCOM student, just follow the normal application instructions!
