BCOM students take part in several corporate service times each week. Depending on the weekly schedule, the times can vary; but generally the schedule is as follows:
Tuesday: 11 am - noon - Student worship chapel, led by staff
noon - 1pm - BCOM worship, prayer, and fasting - led by BHOP staff
Wednesday - 9 am - 10 am - Bethany International (BI) corporate chapel - led by BI staff
Thursday - 10 am - noon - cell groups
To encourage individual devotions and prayer time students are required to schedule regular personal time in the Bethany House of Prayer, as part of their Outreach Practicum. In addition, they also take part in personal evangelism and other directed activities, which help them to hone their ministry skills as they learn new spiritual truths. Students receive 2 credits for the combined activities making up Outreach Practicum.
For church attendance:
All students are required to attend one weekly church service, outside of those required as part of school attendance (chapels, BHOP, etc.). Although church involvement may be limited due to the rigorous school schedule of our students, we encourage regular attendance at one church home, while living in the Twin Cities; and as much involvement as possible. Because we adhere to the Biblical principle of the local church serving as the sending body for missionaries, we also encourage our students to stay in close contact with their church back home, for ideas, prayer support, and accountability. It is also important to the church that there is an on-going connection with the missionary, as they report back on what God is doing and how their ministry (and thus, the extended ministry of the church) is expressing the love and grace of God to others around the world. Therefore, students are instructed on how to maintain good communication with churches and supporters, and expected to keep churches informed about what is going on in their lives.
