Facilities

For starters we have a full gymnasium, with basketball, volleyball, racquetball courts and a weight room, located on the west side of campus. A softball field, soccer field, small football field, a beautiful walking trail, along with two lighted tennis courts are also on the grounds.

Students have use of a student lounge (the Oasis), which has a snack bar, internet, some computers, and game tables.

There are two large dining rooms on campus, two private dining rooms, and several kitchens available for student use outside of their dorms

Students may use either a common laundry room on campus, or a laundry room in their dorm at no cost.

We also have live worship happening at different times in the Bethany House of Prayer for any who want to come and just sit with God.

Climate

So many think "cold" when the word Minnesota is mentioned, but it really isn't as bad as you think. The four seasons that Minnesota goes through are breath taking and will cause you to not want to leave. Especially with how incredible Bethany's campus looks, it enhances the walks, outdoor sports, early morning times with God and so much more!

The Fall has great sunrises with the leaves changing on all the trees and the crisp air. This is the season where you can just sit outside and breath it all in.

Winter is great when the snow falls and you can go sledding, ice skating and just have a good 'ol fashioned snow ball fight. There are a few days that it gets really cold, but for the most part it is fun times in the winter.

Spring is really great and some would describe it as the best season of the year because it isn't cold and it isn't hot, but it is just right. And the skies the limit on enjoying the many outdoor activities that are in Minnesota because of our 10,000 lakes and multiple parks.

Summer is when everything is in full swing and the outdoors are plaqued with events and lots of fun stuff. You can drive around and smell barbeque in the air. The humidity increases a little, but not to bad and to top it off, the sunsets will cause you to stop whatever you are doing and check it out.

Locally

Bethany College of Missions is located on nearly 60 acres in the far southwestern corner of Bloomington, Minnesota, in the suburb locally known as West Bloomington. The property sits on a bluff area which skirt the Minnesota River. Surrounding the campus are many parks, a nature center, a private golf club, and high end homes. However, within a 20 minute drive students can be in an entirely different setting, the Phillips Neighborhood of Minneapolis, which was cited as the #1 most culturally diverse neighborhood in the U.S.! The Twin Cities is also home to many professional sports: football (Vikings), Hockey (Wild), baseball (Twins), Basketball (Timberwolves), Girls Basketball (Lynx)

A full one-third of the City of Bloomington is comprised of city parks. The Twin Cities has countless lakes with nice bikeways and parks around them. Other nearby recreation includes:

Dred Scott Playfields - There are many very large sports fields here, along with a fun but challenging “Links Miniature Golf Course” and Batting Cages less than one mile from Bethany.

Izaak Walton Nature Reserve Trails are directly across the street from Bethany on bluffs overlooking the Minnesota River. They are open to the public for nature walks.

Hyland Lake Park Reserve is only 2 miles from Bethany and contains 1,000 acres of wildlife, trails and parks.

Bush Lake is adjacent to Hyland Lake Park Reserve and is a popular swimming and fishing site.

Centennial Lakes– many walkways and bikeways wind around several lakes in nearby South Minneapolis, with gazebos, bench swings and nice picnicking spots.

Valley Fair Amusement Park is located in next -door Shakopee less than 10 minutes from Bethany. This large park attracts large crowds from out of state.

Valley View Water Park is located in East Bloomington. (check for more details on this)

Mall of America (MOA) – The largest mall in the USA is located in East Bloomington (15 minutes from campus); a brand new indoor water park and an IKEA store are located next to the Mall.

Buck Hill Skiing – is located in Lakeville, just 30 minutes south of Bethany.

In addition, students have access to downtown Minneapolis very easily by taking the light rail from the Mall of America. In Minneapolis are museums, concerts, plays and shows, and sporting events among many other activities. St Paul is a drive of approximately 40 minutes and boasts the State Capitol, the Excel Energy Center (known as being one of the top events facilities in the US), many quaint neighborhoods and historical sites as well.
