MIS 421 Re-Entry
Students returning from their cross-cultural internship go through the same experiences common to all missionaries. Paul describes this in 2 Cor. 6:3-10 in terms of the joys and victories and the discouragements and defeats of ministry. This tension facing the re-entering missionary is often not dealt with simply because the opportunity to express this, to tell the story, is not provided, or the only opportunity to tell the story is surrounded by the expectation to focus on accomplishments. This course is designed to provide students with the opportunities to tell their stories to one another, to communicate their experiences, to reflect on those experiences, feelings, and thoughts as well as to examine the conclusions that they have come to regarding ministry, culture, their own self and their relationship with God.

MIS 431 Integrative Project
Students will develop a comprehensive statement articulating their philosophy of ministry, recognized gifts and callings from the Lord and a strategic plan of their direction post graduation.

CHM 442 Ministry Skills I (Leadership, Mentoring and Counseling)
Part I: Leadership
This course offers an overview of the dynamics of effective leadership in cross-cultural contexts. Students examine their own leadership skills and make application to future ministry and leadership opportunities.
Part II: Mentoring and Counseling
Recognizing the Holy Spirit as the ultimate counselor, this course examines counseling from the perspective of ministry to and within the body of Christ to give the student insight into practical issues they will face when dealing with broken people. Students will also learn effective mentoring methods.

COM 411 Ministry Skills II (Preaching and Teaching)
This course will not only equip students with the fundamental skills and understanding needed to be an effective preacher of the gospel and its message but will examine in depth the issue of spiritual authority as demonstrated in New Testament preaching. They will also relate these skills to their recent experiences overseas.

CHM 451 Marriage and Family
God’s design in sexuality, singleness, marriage and family is explained in the light of Scripture. Not only will this course deal with God’s intended order but will also examine the dangers of current societal trends toward ungodly descriptions of family and sexuality.

Each term students will engage real life ministry, developing their understanding of ministry as ‘to God’ through their prayer life, intercession, and outreach opportunities.
