“Do you have a Global Internship site in (insert country of your choice)?”

This is normally the first question we’re asked when in comes to Global Internship and studying abroad.

This portion of the training has numerous purposes; one of which is that each student will learn the methods, processes and realities they'll need to successfully be a missionary in any culture, not just the one they might happen to find themselves in for internship.

There would be a team of classmates, as we believe doing ministry in the context of a team is more effective than being a lone ranger. Each GI will not only learn a new language; but will learn HOW to learn a new language. Every nation has a different culture but every town does as well; if a student limits their learning to the minute geographical location they find themselves in on internship, they ’ll miss the point. If they absorb how to learn from their social environment and learn how to adapt to a new culture, how to share the gospel with people different from themselves, how to find bridges to share the gospel, etc…then they will be well trained to be a missionary anywhere.

Besides the educational value of Global Internship, each student will have the ministry experience of a lifetime. How many of their peers will spend 16 months of their life sharing Jesus Christ in a culturally relevant way, alongside seasoned missionaries while earning their B.A. Degree? After their first year at Bethany, this could be describing your child! It’s not traditional we know, but we’ve seen it work and we think you and your child will love it!
