Congratulations on being the parent of a student accepted to Bethany College of Missions!
We understand that you may still be considering whether Bethany is the right fit for your student, and we trust that your family is keeping it in prayer. We are very mindful of the tremendous responsibility we have before the Lord to deliver on what we have promised to you and to your student. As you walk through this final decision-making process we want you to know a few things about our perspective as a school, training students to become cross-cultural missionaries.
We desire each student at our college to grow in their relationship with God - this is our top priority because we believe this is God’s top priority for every Christian – more important than choosing a career, making a good living, or finding the perfect spouse. He wants to be our first love and this is something we will emphasize with your student over and over again.
Secondly, God tells us to love others as much as we love ourselves and, in fact, to be Christ-like in putting others’ needs actually ahead of our own. In our “Me-focused” culture, this is a hurdle for nearly every young Christian. However, this is God’s plan for each of us, and it’s the way in which He is able to work in and through us. So, your student will be stretched in learning to live a lifestyle that is “others-focused”, giving of themselves in order to demonstrate Jesus’ love to the world around them.
Lastly, we want your student to be equipped for every good work, by knowing the Word of God, studying and growing in their ability to apply God’s statutes into real-life situations. We want students to learn practical skills that will enable them to work in almost any environment with just about any people. Learning to be flexible and adaptable is a key to success in our ever-changing world. We also want to identify our student’s unique giftings and passions and help them develop those skills in an atmosphere of prayer and of seeking God’s best for their lives. Each and every skill has a place in overseas ministry, and we will help your student find his/her niche.
We hope you will encourage your student to enroll at Bethany and that you will be encouraged yourself to know that we sincerely desire the well-being of each student here at Bethany College of Missions. Our work here is an offering to the Lord and we do all things with the hope of God being glorified.
